Everything we know about Isabel May’s parents
Isabel May auditioned for a Taylor Sheridan project but didn’t get the role. The rejection didn’t reflect on her acting skills: May just didn’t fit the role. Nevertheless, she left a lasting impression on Sheridan – he promised to contact her for a part that suited her. May had no idea that Taylor would reach out two weeks after her failed audition.
“Two weeks later, he [Sheridan] called and said, ‘I haven’t written it yet, but you are Elsa and I want you to be Elsa,’” May told Town and Country Magazine. May stars as Elsa is the Yellowstone prequel 1883.
Isabel May was born on 21st November 2000 in Santa Monica, California. May is very secretive: she is yet to share her family’s details. “I have such an amazing family and a pretty private life,” May told Bello Magazine.
May started acting after her sixth-grade teacher suggested that she pursue a creative outlet. Three frustrating years of unsuccessful auditions followed, but May and her parents didn’t give up.
In tenth grade, Isabel’s parents allowed her to start online schooling so she could give more attention to acting. Six months later, she landed the leading role of Katie in Netflix’s Alexa and Katie.
May experienced acting success with no experience and limited training. As such, she’s constantly learning when she is on set.
Isabel grew up surrounded by ranches in Southern California but never visited them, preferring to read at home. Elsa’s role required Isabel to learn horse riding, an activity she picked up with great enthusiasm. She told Entertainment Weekly:
“I’m one of those kinds of people that when it comes to picking something up, I’m not really intimidated by it. I’ve been very fortunate in that I picked it up very quickly. For some reason, it felt organic and natural. And just observing the wranglers that we have, you pick up little things and then you can pretend that you actually know what you’re doing.”
Despite all of her success, Isabel’s still a homebody. “I’m a homebody, what can I say?” May told Bello Magazine. “Getting to work in this industry and then race back home to a good book is my cloud-nine.”
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, a real-life couple, play Elsa’s parents in 1883. Isabel didn’t know Tim and Faith – or that they are successful country musicians – before she met them on set.
Isabel and her on-screen parents hit it off immediately. “Honestly, it was a pretty natural pairing,” Hill told Taste of Country. “I think that the fact that I am a mom of three, and Isabell does have traits of each of our daughters, is one way to describe it.”
May told Entertainment Weekly that Tim and faith were ‘just like mom and dad on set.’ Isabel told Town and Country Magazine that she loves her family but wouldn’t mind being Tim and Hill’s fourth daughter:
“Tim and Faith are two of the loveliest people I’ve ever met. They’re so respectful of one another. They have three beautiful daughters, and I love my parents to death, but I’m still trying to become like daughter number four a little bit.”
