Who is Kyle Mooney’s wife? His relationship rumors debunked

Kyle Mooney has entertained audiences as a member of Saturday Night Live since 2013. The talented comedian recently starred as Johnny Depp and Baby Yoda on the acclaimed show. Some of his performances have split audiences, but few can deny that Kyle Mooney is a unique creative talent. 

Mooney’s exploits extend beyond the SNL studios to multiple appearances in movies and television shows. Kyle’s crowning glory so far is his cartoon comedy series – Saturday Morning All Star Hits! – which premiered on Netflix in December 2021 to positive reviews. 

Kyle Mooney prefers to keep his personal life secret. However, rumors have recently emerged claiming he is married. 

In mid-May 2022, the rumor mill claimed that Kyle Mooney and fellow comedian Kate McKinnon were dating – and headed for marriage. The pair contributed to an SNL sketch parodying the Heard-Depp defamation trial. 

However, there’s no evidence that the comedians have a romantic relationship. Kate McKinnon is as secretive as Mooney about her love life, but she’s long-rumored to be dating Jackie Abbott. 

Abbott and Kate made a rare public appearance during the 2017 Emmy Awards, where they shared a sweet embrace when Kate won an award. 

Given Kate’s secrecy, her relationship status is unclear, but it’s still improbable that she’s dating Kyle: Kate McKinnon is openly gay. While presenting Ellen DeGeneres with the Carol Burnett Award, Kate talked about discovering her sexuality. She said:

“In 1997, when Ellen’s sitcom was in the height of its popularity, I was in my mother’s basement lifting weights in front of the mirror and thinking, ‘Am I gay?’ And I was, and I still am.”

Kyle Mooney’s compelling on-screen relationship with Leslie Jones convinced some fans that the pair were dating. The couple even made a sketch titled Kyle & Leslie poking fun at their alleged relationship. 

In the sketch, the pair got married, had kids, and discussed their work-life balance. The fake relationship was such a hit that even established media houses ran with it. 

The Washington Post announced Leslie’s departure from SNL via an article comically titled: Sorry, Kyle Mooney. 

Mooney was linked with musician Saweetie following her appearance on the show in mid-November 2021. Saweetie, Mooney, Simu Liu, and Cecily Strong appeared in a promo for the week’s episode in which Mooney and Saweetie had an awkward exchange stemming from a failed engagement. 

Kyle responded as follows when Cecily asked whether he and Saweetie knew each other: “We did. Until she broke off our engagement!” Mooney then stormed off stage when Liu inquired whether the couple’s past would pose a problem. 

As far as we can tell, Saweetie and Mooney weren’t engaged or in a relationship. They faked a romance for comedy.
