Inside Chloe Coleman’s life including her career and parents
Chloe Coleman is an American actor who shot to international fame in 2020 following the release of her 2020 film My Spy. Coleman starred as Sophia Vale, a smart 9-year-old who blackmails JJ (played by Dave Bautista) into training her to be a spy. Chloe had nothing but praise for the former WWE star, who had the Guardians of the Galaxy cast sing happy birthday for Coleman on her 10th birthday.
Coleman also stars in Netflix’s July 2021 film Gunpowder Milkshake. In Gunpowder Milkshake, she plays Emily, a third-generation assassin whose life is in danger.
Chloe was born on 23rd November 2008 to Stephen and Allison Coleman. Stephen is an Emmy nominated camera operator from Pennsylvania, and Allison is a 4-time Emmy winning television producer.
Chloe holds American nationality and is of African, English, and Eastern European descent. Her younger sister, Mia Coleman, is also an actress and features a lot on Chloe’s Instagram.
Coleman has demonstrated a maturity that belies her age in her understanding of issues affecting her race and the world. In mid-2020, she shared Instagram posts supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and encouraging people to wear masks.
“I think that it’s constantly important that you use your voice to speak out and help people get a perspective of what we need to know at this time,” Chloe called TooFab. “It’s important to let people know that black lives matter.” Coleman couldn’t contain her emotions during her first BLM march as she saw so many people come together during a pandemic to promote black rights.
“I started crying because you see all of these people are here together, standing there to make a difference and doing something about it,” she added. “There’s thousands, millions, billions of people who are upset and need their voices to be heard and that’s why I want to use my voice so those people can be heard.”
Thanks to her parents, Chloe grew up around film sets and stars. At age 5, she made her acting debut as a dancer on Glee. A series of minor roles followed before she landed the role of Skye Carlson in Big Little Lies.
She shared the stage with stars such as, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley. Roles in Kinderwood and Upload followed her starring appearance in My Spy alongside Dave Bautista.
Hollywood directors all want a piece of this rapidly rising star. Gunpowder Milkshake, which features A-listers such as Lena Headey and Angela Bassett, has just been released. Chloe will star alongside Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson in 2022’s Marry Me.
She also has a role in James Cameron’s Avatar 2 and is set to join Chris Pine and Hugh Grant in the adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons. She’ll also feature alongside Adam Driver in Sony’s 2022 film 65.
“Keep your eye on Coleman,” celebrated director Tom McCarthy told Forbes in 2020. “That young girl is going to have a career. She is a real deal actress and working with her was like ‘whoa’ every time we finished something. I was like ‘wow that girl can act.’”
Chloe takes every opportunity to learn from the stars she films with. “I respect and learn from such strong role-models more than they’ll ever know,” Chloe said of her experience on Gunpowder Milkshake. “I see how passionately they stand for what they believe in while acting & but also in real life. They’ve made huge impressions on me.”
